Samantha Cristoforetti The Barbie resembles Samantha Cristoforetti, the first female commander of the International Space Station. On the mission in which she was accompanied by her lookalike Barbie, Cristoforetti became the first European woman to complete a spacewalk. Video of Cristoforetti answering questions from space to encourage young girls to become scientists and astronauts will also be on display.

Barbie in a metallic pink spacesuit, also on display, was released in 1985 afer Sally Ride became the first American woman in space.
