Several Ganesh mandals across the city will be highlighting the importance of women’s safety in light of the brutal Kolkata rape and murder and Badlapur sexual assault case. One will even hold a workshop to teach kids about good and bad touch.
Ganeshotsav is around the corner and sarvajanik Ganesh mandals are known for showcasing social issues via their design. The brutal rape and murder of a doctor in a Kolkata medical college and sexual assault of school girls in Badlapur triggered rage among citizens and raised concerns about the general security of women despite the existence of several hundred schemes that seek to empower women.
