Incident happened in Vasai East, where the two women were walking to work; this is second such mishap in 10 days

A week after 55-year-old Hanumant Kharat lost his life on a Kherwadi service road after being hit by a tempo driven on the wrong side of the road, two women lost their lives in a similar incident in Vasai, on Monday. The women were mowed down by a dumper truck that was on the wrong side of the road. The Waliv police arrested the truck driver and initiated an investigation into the mishap.
The deceased women have been identified as Manjita Jitu Saroj, 35 from Gaonrai Pada and Jindadevi Shailesh Singh, 50, from Evershine City area in Vasai. Both women were working as factory labourers. The accused Survesh Chaudhary, 24, driving a dumper truck (MH-43 BG 9228), was transporting goods from Mumbai to Vasai. The incident occurred in the Sativali area of Vasai East. According to police officials, the incident took place on Monday at 7 am in the Sativali area of Vasai East.
