In a significant operation led by the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-kenyan-woman-arrested-with-drugs-worth-rs-14-90-crore-23327266" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Directorate of Revenue</a> (DRI), a 21-year-old Thai woman was nabbed with cocaine worth Rs 40 crore at Mumbai Airport on Friday.
The DRI, acting on reliable information, detained the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-three-persons-held-with-gutka-worth-rs-78-lakh-in-andheri-23329369" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thai woman</a> upon her arrival from Addis Ababa, reported ANI.
According to the Directorate of Revenue, during an extensive search, the individual`s examination yielded no suspicious findings. However, a closer inspection of her trolley bag uncovered multiple packets containing a white powder-like substance. Subsequent testing confirmed the substance as cocaine, boasting an estimated international market value of a staggering Rs 40 crore, reported ANI.
The arrested <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-wildlife-smuggler-busted-at-airport-9-ball-pythons-2-corn-snakes-seized-23326289" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thai woman</a>&nbsp;has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, reported ANI.

In another case, two persons were arrested and mephedrone worth Rs 1.06 crore was allegedly seized from a drug manufacturing lab set up in a house in the Malvani-Kandivali belt in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-hashish-oil-worth-rs-2-crore-seized-by-anti-narcotics-cell-23323844" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">northern Mumbai</a>, a police official said on Thursday, reported PTI.
The accused were identified as 30-year-old Abrar Ibrahim Sheikh and Noor Alam Mehboob Alam Choudhary (24), the Malvani police station official said, reported PTI.
"Shaikh was held on January 5 with one gram of mephedrone and 100 bottles of thinner while police was patrolling Kandivali West area. His questioning led to police zeroing on Choudhary, from whom the former had procured the drug," the official said, reported PTI.
"We found Choudhary manufacturing the drug when we raided Charkop Islam Compound in Kandivali West. We recovered 503 grams of high quality mephedrone worth Rs 1.06 crore," he said, reported PTI.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered and the two accused have been remanded in police custody till Monday, senior inspector Chimaji Adhav said, reported PTI.
The entire details of the lab and the amount of drugs manufactured there are being probed along with the peddling network, including clients, he said, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, The Mumbai police have seized gutka, a banned product, worth Rs 78 lakh which was being transported in the city and arrested three persons in this connection, an official said, reported PTI.
