On Thursday morning, officials said the roof of a flat in Thane city`s Kalwa area collapsed injuring an elderly couple and their son. Officials further told news agency PTI that the roof of their second-floor flat--in a four-storey building--collapsed on them shortly before midnight. 

Yasin Tadvi, the chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of Thane Municipal Corporation told the news agency that the incident happened in the Bhusar Ali area of Kalwa and that the building had been previously categorised as unsafe and inhabitable.
