Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray has voiced strong opposition to the possibility of former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan receiving a Rajya Sabha nomination from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing concerns over the Adarsh housing scam. Thackeray emphasized that such a move would be disrespectful to martyred soldiers and their families, reported PTI.
According to the report, during a rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city on Monday, Thackeray highlighted past statements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who had criticized Chavan for alleged corruption and disrespect towards soldiers` families. Thackeray questioned the prime minister`s decision to consider Chavan for a Rajya Sabha seat, given his tainted record and the gravity of the Adarsh housing scam.
