Welcoming the move, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis tweeted and wrote, apart from New Delhi and Ahmedabad, CSMT will also be redeveloped keeping its heritage building untouched and within 2 to 3.5 years it would have a modular technology.

Speaking to the media, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, the design of these stations will be in tune with the cityscape.

Apart from CSMT, Ahmedabad and New Delhi railway stations will be redeveloped and would have a completely new look, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said.

As many as 199 stations with a footfall of 50 lakh per day are planned to be redeveloped in the first phase, the railway minister said.
