Several states like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and notably Assam are currently grappling with floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains.

Assam, particularly affected by recent floods exacerbated by Cyclone Remal, has seen significant damage. Approximately 3 lakh people across 19 districts have been affected, with reports of submerged villages, crop loss, and displacement.

In Nagaon district alone, nearly 6,000 people have been severely affected, with 35 villages submerged under floodwaters. Additionally, 1,089 hectares of crop area have been inundated, highlighting the agricultural impact of the floods.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported that 979 villages in 48 revenue circles across the state have been affected. More than 2.43 lakh people have been impacted.
