Amid the ongoing rage over Kolkata Rape Horror, CBI has swing into action after the Calcutta HC transferred Kolkata rape-murder case to CBI. Former Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh arrived at CBI office for 4th consecutive day on August 19. Sandip Ghosh is being questioned in connection with ongoing probe into Trainee Doctor’s rape and murder case. Earlier, the investigation agency has interrogated nursing staffs, ward boy and security guards working at RG Kar Hospital. CBI has intensified investigation as protests over horrific rape-murder of ‘Abhaya’ have erupted across India.

Supporters of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan staged a massive protest over the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Kolkata doctor rape & murder case incident near salt lake stadium on August 18. Football fans gathered here to watch the Durand Cup match between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal but the match was cancelled. One of the footballers said, “We (East Bengal and Mohun Bagan supporters) have come together because of the RG Kar incident. The police had said that they would not be able to provide protection, therefore the match was cancelled...Where did the police force come from now?” Another football supporter says, “Where did such a lot of police force come from? You had said there is no police force and will not be able to give police protection (for the match)...Why did the police lathi charge?” Kolkata, West Bengal: "We are first Indians. Before Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, we are Indians. Atrocity has happened against Indian woman. We were protesting peacefully here...But the police started a lathi charge...," says a football supporter protesting near Salt Lake stadium against the rape and murder of a woman resident doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
